Amy Jade Winehouse (Londres, 14 de setembro de 1983) é uma cantora e compositora de soul, jazz e R&B do Reino Unido. Seu primeiro álbum, Frank, lançado em 2003 pela Island Records, foi muito bem recebido, comercial e criticamente, e o segundo, de 2006, Back to Black, deu a ela seis indicações ao Grammy Awards, das quais venceu cinco.
Amy também é muito conhecida por seus escândalos públicos e pelo uso de drogas. Os problemas de Amy com drogas e álcool têm sido noticiados pelos meios de comunicação ao redor do mundo desde 2008. Em junho de 2008 o pai de Amy revelou aos jornalistas que ela estava com uma possível arritmia cardíaca por conta do uso abusivo de cocaína e cigarro.
Em 2009, Amy Winehouse garantiu estar se recuperando. Winehouse já vendeu 505 mil cópias de seus dois discos anteriores no Brasil, segundo a revista semanal Veja.
Em 2010, Amy Winehouse terminou seu tratamento na reabilitação e finalmente libertou-se das drogas, podendo concentrar-se no seu terceiro disco, esperado para janeiro de 2011.

Chris Martin e Jonny Buckland se encontraram pela primeira vez na semana de orientação na University College London (UCL) em setembro de 1996. A dupla passou o resto do ano universitário planejando formar uma banda, por fim, criaram um grupo chamado Pectoralz. Guy Berryman, um colega de classe de Martin e Buckland, mais tarde se juntou ao grupo. Em 1997, o grupo, que tinha se renomeado para Starfish, performaram em shows para os promotores locais Camden (borough) em clubes pequenos. Martin também chamou seu amigo de longa data da escola, Phil Harvey, que estava estudando antiguidade clássica na Universidade de Oxford, para ser empresário da banda. Coldplay, desde então, aceitou Harvey como o quinto membro do grupo. A formação da banda foi completada quando Will Champion se juntou para assumir as funções da percussão. Champion havia crescido tocando piano, guitarra, baixo, e tin whistle; ele aprendeu rapidamente a tocar bateria, apesar de não ter nenhuma experiência com o instrumento. A banda finalmente se estabeleceu no nome “Coldplay” que foi sugerido por Tim Crompton, um estudante local, que estava usando o mesmo nome em seu grupo. Em 1997, Martin também conheceu o estudante de antiguidade clássica, Tim Rice-Oxley. Durante um fim de semana em Virginia Water, um mostrou ao outro suas próprias canções em um piano. Martin, concluiu que Rice-Oxley era muito talentoso, e pediu-o para ser o tocador de teclado do Coldplay, mas Rice-Oxley teve de recusar pois sua própria banda, Keane, já estava operacional. Dias depois, neste caso seria a forma de Keane e Coldplay manter a banda inalterada, deixando ambas as bandas como quartetos.
Em 1998, a banda lançou 500 cópias do Safety EP. A maioria dos discos foram dados à gravadoras e amigos; apenas 50 cópias sobraram para serem vendidos ao público. Em dezembro do mesmo ano, a banda assinou contrato com a gravadora independente Fierce Panda. O primeiro lançamento com a gravadora foi Brothers & Sisters EP, que haviam gravado rapidamente durante quatro dias em fevereiro de 1999. Continue lendo:
